Job Description
The Capital Project Manager is responsible for overseeing assigned capital projects from inception to completion, ensuring full compliance with federal government requirements. This role involves managing cross-functional teams that do not directly report to the project manager, coordinating with federal government representatives, and collaborating with subcontractors as necessary.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing, updating, and managing the project plan throughout the project lifecycle.
- Implementing professional project management practices in alignment with federal government standards.
- Understanding and addressing detailed project requirements.
- Monitoring team performance against the project plan and resolving potential issues proactively.
- Providing regular progress updates to senior leadership.
- Ensuring timely updates and reporting to federal government partners as required.
- Leading project planning and status meetings to maintain effective communication across the team.
- Ensuring adherence to required policies and procedures, including procurement policies.
- Delivering all required project documentation accurately and on time.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or equivalent work experience.
- At least 5 years of experience managing large-scale projects.
- Knowledge and experience with federally funded capital projects.
- Expertise in managing large construction projects.
- Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams without direct authority to achieve project goals.
- Strong problem-solving skills with practical judgment and a realistic approach to challenges.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to analyze data and interpret reports and correspondence effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work in diverse environments, including office settings, construction sites, and manufacturing plants.
- Willingness to travel up to 40% as the project progresses.
