Job Description

Civil Estimator/Construction Project Manager

McAnany Construction, a well-established, family-owned company based in Kansas City, seeks a proactive, self-starter with impeccable attention to detail to join our growing team of Estimators/Project Managers. This person will analyze project plans, specifications, and other information to determine material, labor, and equipment costs, ultimately producing accurate cost estimates for bids and project budgets.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with peers, superintendents, vendors, and other stakeholders to gather information and ensure the accuracy of estimates
  • Manage all phases of construction projects from start to finish
  • Create and maintain project schedules, budgets, and scope documents
  • Build relationships with vendors, suppliers, clients, and coworkers to ensure effective communication
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients and act as their primary point of contact throughout the project lifecycle
  • Request bids from subcontractors and suppliers; negotiate for competitive pricing
  • Prepare and manage project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and close-outs
  • Ensure compliance with bid submission deadlines and requirements
  • Resolve issues promptly, including site conditions, schedule delays, or scope changes
  • Conduct regular project meetings and site walks to monitor progress and quality on current projects

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years’ experience in estimating earthwork, sewer, asphalt, concrete, etc. for public street and private site construction
  • Strong background in AGTEK construction software, particularly Gradework
  • Experience working with city or private clients on pay estimates
  • Strong teamwork, communication, critical thinking, organizational, time management, problem-solving, and PC skills, including Microsoft Office suite proficiency
  • Valid driver’s license with availability to travel locally to job sites

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Local candidate with existing relationships, contacts, and clients preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field
  • Experience with asphalt, concrete, and/or site development preferred
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred; PMP or CCM certification is a plus
