Director of Training and Development

Purpose:

The Director of Training and Development provides visionary leadership in creating and executing innovative training and development initiatives aligned with the organization’s strategic goals. This role focuses on fostering a culture of continuous learning while ensuring compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, workplace safety standards, and other regulatory requirements. With an emphasis on leadership development and workforce readiness, the Director also manages the Learning Management System (LMS) and explores opportunities for adopting new technologies to enhance learning outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for training and development programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance standards.
  • Design and deliver comprehensive training programs tailored to address organizational needs, including employee growth, performance, and safety.
  • Oversee the development of training content and materials, ensuring consistency across Human Resources and the broader organization.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and other regulatory standards through targeted training initiatives.
  • Manage the Learning Management System (LMS), including evaluating, selecting, and implementing new platforms to improve efficiency and learning outcomes.
  • Conduct training needs assessments across departments to identify skill gaps and recommend effective solutions that enhance engagement and productivity.
  • Oversee onboarding and orientation programs to provide a seamless integration experience for new hires while promoting alignment with company values.
  • Develop and deliver leadership training programs to strengthen management capabilities and prepare future leaders.
  • Maintain expertise in FDA 21 CFR 1271, FDA 21 CFR 820, AATB standards, ISO standards, cGMP/CGTP, and other relevant regulations, ensuring alignment with organizational policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Guide employees and teams through organizational changes, including mergers, acquisitions, and technological transitions.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to design and implement training initiatives tailored to specific departmental needs.
  • Create, update, and enforce training policies and procedures to reflect evolving organizational priorities and industry best practices.
  • Leverage data analytics to measure the effectiveness of training programs, driving continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a coach and mentor, offering personalized guidance to support talent development and performance enhancement.
  • Build strong relationships with leaders across the organization to understand their training needs and provide customized solutions.
  • Manage budgets for training programs and LMS initiatives, ensuring effective allocation of resources.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on talent development, advising leadership on best practices and emerging trends.
  • Adapt to operational needs by working flexible hours during weekdays or weekends to ensure business continuity.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Expertise in training and development strategies, including LMS platforms and instructional design.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA, HIPAA, and regulatory compliance standards related to training.
  • Proven ability to lead large-scale change initiatives, including new technology implementations.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Strategic planning and analytical abilities to align training initiatives with business objectives.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including presentation, coaching, and facilitation expertise.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Flexible and hands-on approach, capable of working independently or collaboratively as part of a team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Training and Development, Learning and Development, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role required.
  • Previous experience working on an HR team is preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in regulatory compliance training, including OSHA and HIPAA, is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in LMS management, including implementation of new systems, is required.
