Responsibilities
- Develop and implement site-specific safety programs, behavioral safety initiatives, and corporate safety directives.
- Interpret and apply relevant regulatory requirements to ensure compliance.
- Establish proactive Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) programs to prevent workplace incidents.
- Support the site incident reporting process, including investigation, reporting, corrective actions, trend analysis, and sharing of best practices.
- Lead the risk assessment program, including Job Safety Analysis (JSA), PPE evaluations, FMEA, and equipment assessments.
- Manage environmental permit requirements, including monthly recordkeeping and documentation.
- Guide the site safety committee in setting and achieving safety goals and objectives.
- Develop and update site-specific HSE training programs.
- Conduct operational reviews and assess new equipment from an HSE perspective.
- Monitor and report on HSE and regulatory compliance metrics.
- Participate in project turnover processes for new equipment or plant updates.
- Develop and implement safety guidelines for contractors.
- Engage in key HSE initiatives as directed by the Director of Operations.
- Oversee onsite security operations.
- Investigate and recommend controls for potential causes of accidents, hazardous material exposures, and ergonomic risks.
- Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for hazardous materials.
- Perform additional duties as required by business needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Health and Safety, or a related field (required)
- Master's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (preferred)
- Minimum of 8 years of experience, including at least 5 years in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of OSHA and federal, state, and local safety laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Experience with Lean/Six Sigma methodologies
- Familiarity with high-speed production and automated equipment.
- Pharmaceutical industry experience (preferred).
- Plastic injection molding industry experience
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational, time-management, negotiation, and conflict resolution abilities.
- Ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels.
- Experience managing local authorities and contractors.
