Process Engineer (Contract) - Food Manufacturing Industry
Vaco is conducting a search on behalf of a leading organization in the food manufacturing sector.
We are seeking a Process Engineer (Contract) to support product development and manufacturing operations at a state-of-the-art facility in the Greater Boston area. This one-year W2 contract role offers the possibility of full-time conversion, though it is not guaranteed.
Pay Rate: $33/hr (W2)
Work Arrangement: 100 percent onsite - local candidates within commuting distance are required
Employment Status: No C2C, 1099, or third-party candidates will be considered
Sponsorship: Not available now or in the future
Start Date: Immediate - this is an urgent hiring need
About the Role
The selected candidate will support process development, experimental testing, and manufacturing operations in a fast-paced, small-scale production environment. This role involves working closely with technical processes, data-driven analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with R&D, Process Engineering, and Quality Operations to support manufacturing and process development initiatives.
- Gain hands-on experience with food production processes, including chemical formulation, ingredient blending, and analytical measurement tools.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret production and quality data to drive process optimization.
- Develop performance reports and statistical analyses to support data-driven decision-making.
- Provide technical troubleshooting for manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Document process changes, create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and refine process specifications.
- Assist in experimental testing and trials to drive innovation and process improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Food Science, or a related technical field.
- Zero to five years of experience in process development, manufacturing, or a related technical role.
- Research papers, co-op experience, and science internships will be considered in lieu of work experience for candidates with a degree in the sciences.
- Familiarity with chemical processing, ingredient formulation, and food production techniques such as grinding, blending, emulsification, and analytical chemistry.
- Understanding of food safety regulations, including SQF, FDA, and GMP, is a plus.
- Proficiency in Excel, with additional experience in JMP or Minitab being an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical challenges.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively convey data-driven insights to stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team-based environment.
- Comfortable working on the factory floor in a fast-paced production setting.
- Willingness to work occasional overtime as needed.
