VINCI Construction Grands Projets USA (VCGP USA) is a subsidiary of VINCI Construction Grands Projects located in Norfolk, Virginia, USA.

The scope of the company is general contracting and construction work, along with any associated services related to large selected Design and Build projects, either public or private for which it can bring clear and strong added value.

VCGP USA aims to develop engineering and construction services for large infrastructure projects in various parts in the United States and provide a highly skilled and competitive professional service in construction field.

The Joint Venture including VINCI (33%), Dragados USA (42%), Flatiron Constructors (25%) has been awarded with a $3.3B design-build contract for the I-64 Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel Expansion Project (HRBT) in Virginia, which is the largest construction contract awarded in the history of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).

As a General Superintendent (Trestle) on the $3.3BN Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel Expansion project in Virginia, you will oversee the construction activities on a designated area of the project.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises work on a designated area of the project. Supports superintendents, field engineering, and estimating to ensure project compliance with contract drawings and specifications.
  • Plans work methods, materials, equipment needs and work schedule for assigned project work. Reviews daily or weekly work schedule with direct reports and updates monthly schedule from project feedback.
  • Reviews and understands the project specifications to oversee job set up activities. Works with work crews, field engineers and local utility companies to identify hazardous areas on job site.
  • Presents production work plan during initial project meeting to ensure all project crews and leaders are in alignment.
  • Coordinates with internal and external teams to ensure that project work is equipped with appropriate equipment and material quantities to complete production within assigned budget and schedule.
  • Forecasts the work schedule to identify issues and provides technical or scheduling recommendations to mitigate production issues.
  • Provides technical input to identify and resolve project risks including construction methods, work plan and material requirements, safety, and schedule activities. Documents daily activities and meeting notes using Company approved document methods.
  • Supports and promotes strict adherence to safety and process controls regarding operating equipment, worksite safety and documentation requirements.
  • Involved in all media communications and responsible to maintain community relationships using positive personal and company branding tools.
  • Supervises sub-contractor production and workforce regarding assigned project work. Recommends work schedule or work method adjustments regarding sub-contractor activities, as needed.
  • Oversees project close out activities in line with Company standards and Owner checklist requirements.
  • Fulfills supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the project’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; disciplinary actions; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 17+ years of heavy civil construction experience required, with at least 12+ years management experience in construction required.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Proven ability to manage complex construction projects using strong organization and multi- tasking skills.
  • Proven ability to manage difficult schedules and project demands while maintaining strict

adherence to project safety program.

  • Developed expertise in a specialized construction type.
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills required.
  • Strong leadership capability with internal drive to mentor and grow internal talent.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction site equipment operation and maintenance requirements.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction site safety protocols and proven ability to enforce project safety programs.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities, Competencies

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret standards and contract specific plans and specifications.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics, and fundamentals geometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Work Environment

  • Exposure to extreme temperatures when in the field as well as high levels of noise and varying levels of dust.
  • Working on construction site
  • Working on uneven and potentially hazardous terrain, including working at heights or near water bodies depending on the bridge/ tunnel location

Physical Demands

  • Significant amount of walking and standing while inspecting equipment and coordinating activities on-site
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, and reflective vests when on-site.
  • Must be able to lift 50lb or more
