Job Description

Informal and Warm, Family of five in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, NY is looking to hire an experienced, energetic, and highly organizedHousekeeper/Family Assistant to partner with them to keep their home clean and organized while helping their family life run more smoothly. While it is not a Nanny job, they are looking to find someone who loves children, enjoys being around children and teenagers, and will be happy to pitch in on childcare when needed.
The role requires cleaning, home organizing, errands/grocery shopping, ingredient prep and light cooking, and occasional childcare. 
A proactive person who is not afraid to ask questions and suggest solutions will be a great fit.

About the Family

Adults: 2, One parent works from home 2-3 days per week and the other one rarely works from home.
Children:(G)14, (G)11, (G)6
Home:Triplex, 4 bedroom / 2 bathroom home is spread over 3 floors, with a small kitchen on the first floor.
Laundry machines are located in the basement of the building.

Position Responsibilities

• Housekeeping:Full Housekeeping Required. Maintain overall cleanliness and order in the home.
• Childcare:(G)14, (G)11, (G) 6-year-old has a part-time babysitter. The children walk to school in the neighborhood. Occasional pick-ups for 1st grader when her usual babysitter is unavailable or they have schedule changes. School is around the corner–2 min walk. Not a nanny job, however, must love children, be happy around them, and be open to caring for girls when school is closed or a child is mildly sick and stays home from school.
• Cooking:Meal planning, prep/chop veggies, clean salad, cut fruit, prepare healthy, simple meals. The family enjoys eating dinner together most nights.
• Laundry:Machines are located in the basement of the building, however until it is upgraded: Organize clothing for drop off/pick up from laundromat. Knowledge of fabrics and which items can be laundered, hand-washed, or air dry (e.g. wool). Put away in dressers.
• Family Assistance:Maintain household organization: children's closets (maintain/monitor outgrown clothing per season, and online shopping for specific requested items, able to remember brand preferences and size), household inventory (pantry/cleaning supplies). Inform Principals and/or purchase supplies as needed. Prepare online grocery/Costco orders and receive deliveries when requested. Organize items to review for giveaways and put into bags for separate destinations.
• Errands:Yes, Grocery shopping, Dry Cleaners; Post Office, Returns, etc.

Position Requirements

• Work Hours:Monday-Thursday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Must be flexible, and open to staying late upon request to care for children, if parents will be out.
• Years of Experience
• Minimum of 2 References
• Pass stringent background checks and drug testing upon offer of hire
• Driving: A plus to have a valid Drivers' license and clean driving record, occasional other errands by car or to pick up car from repairs, get car inspection renewed, etc.

Position Compensation

• Salary: $35.00 hour + Depending upon experience
