Job Description

Pullman Standard is an upscale cocktail lounge located in the iconic Cummins Station. Pullman Standard draws inspiration from Cummins Station’s historical role in connecting the city to the nation through Pullman Standard trains. The bar combines Nashville culture with innovative beverage techniques and flavors, with inventive craft cocktails, top-shelf liquor and wine, and creative small plates in a sophisticated yet approachable setting.

We are seeking a skilled and professional mixologist to join our team as the Lead Bartender. In this role, you’ll be creating an exceptional experience for our guests through expert mixology, attentive service, and a commitment to maintaining our premium standards. You will craft sophisticated, innovative cocktails, maintain an organized and pristine bar area, and work closely with the culinary team to create beverage pairing options. This is a key-holder position.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Craft and curate a seasonal, innovative menu of signature cocktails and classics, elevating the guest experience with creativity and expertise in mixology.
  2. Lead by example, training and mentoring a team of bartenders to ensure adherence to company standards.
  3. Provide exceptional service to guests while maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor. Engage with guests, recommending drinks and enhancing their overall bar experience to promote repeat business and guest loyalty.
  4. Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and inventory of the bar area, ensuring it is stocked and ready for service.
  5. Manage inventory and order supplies as needed.
  6. Maintain a smooth and efficient workflow, even during peak hours.
  7. Monitor drink quality, presentation and consistency across all beverages served. Ensure each cocktail meets the highest standards of taste and appearance.
  8. Operate POS system accurately and efficiently; ensuring all food or drink items ordered are rung in and properly accounted for; manage cash handling and credit card transactions with accuracy.
  9. Uphold all health, safety, and alcohol-related regulations, ensuring staff follows legal requirements and guests consume alcohol responsibly.
  10. Work closely with management and culinary team to ensure seamless and efficient service for guests.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Experience Required:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent, preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of bartending experience, with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role in a high-end craft cocktail bar or similar environment.
  • Proven ability to manage and maintain an established bar program while continuously enhancing the guest experience.
  • Valid Server Permit from TABC; must obtain permit individually and provide proof of possession upon hire.
  • Must pass a criminal background check

Skills and Knowledge Required

  1. Must be at least the minimum age required to serve alcohol.
  2. Extensive knowledge of spirits, wines, beers and craft cocktails with emphasis on modern mixology techniques.
  3. In-depth knowledge of bar operations, inventory management and cocktail trends.
  4. Positive, enthusiastic attitude and genuine passion for hospitality and mixology.
  5. Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  6. Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
  7. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with guests and colleagues.
  8. Strong problem-solving and multi-tasking abilities, particularly in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  9. Reliable, responsible, and dependable.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high energy, and physically demanding environment.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, reach and prepare drinks for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to push, pull and lift objects from a lower to higher position or move objects horizontally, from position to position.
  • Must be able to carry loads greater than 35 pounds and exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently.
  • Able to work varied shifts, including evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
