Job Description

Medical Billing and Coding In-Office Position.

Medical Billing and Coding. The ideal candidate will be responsible for all aspects of billing including accounts receivables, managing claims from the time of claim submission to payment posting, etc.

Qualifications:
  • Certified Coder
  • Medical Billing Certification.
  • 3+ years of previous medical collections experience with general insurance billing practice knowledge required.
  • Must have 3-4 years of experience in CPT & ICD-9/10 Coding.
  • Billing-related background in a physician clinic setting preferred with experience in working on accounts receivable.
  • Attention to detail, consistent, productive, able to meet deadlines.
  • Position requires you to work in the office. This is Not a Remote position.

Responsibilities:

  • Assigns appropriate ICD and CPT codes for reimbursement and statistical purposes
  • Follows ICD, CPT, CMS, and other regulatory coding guidelines
  • Abstracts clinical information from medical records for complete and accurate statistical documentation
  • Researches and stays current with trends in healthcare coding and compliance
  • Responsible for assisting with coding claim edits and reviewing claim denials for correction
  • Reports to work in a timely manner and adheres to attendance policies
  • Manages claim denials from insurance companies.
  • Contact insurance companies regarding unpaid claims.
  • Corrects and resubmits claims to payers.
  • Ongoing review of aging reports to determine the reason for unpaid claims.
  • Post payments.
  • Identifies and resolves patient billing inquiries.
  • Performs various collection actions including contacting insurances and patients by phone.
  • Effectively utilizes time and resources in order to meet performance goals.
  • Clearly communicates any billing-related issues with management.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
