Job Description

MUD Workshop is a community-centric urban design and planning practice dedicated to the revitalization of neighborhoods and public places. We emphasize climate responsiveness and advance community-led ideas in the design and planning of the public realm and neighborhoods. We are seeking a skilled Project Manager (Urban Planning), who will work with the Project Principal to lead junior staff in detailing and documenting projects.

A PROJECT MANAGER’S DAY COULD CONSIST OF –

  • Coordinating with the Project Principal on all phases of the planning and design process.
  • Developing presentations and urban planning frameworks – including graphics and written content – to communicate planning, design, and policy ideas.
  • Leading community/stakeholder workshops and meetings.
  • Supporting the Project Principal in client and consultant meetings and representing the firm in their absence.
  • Managing the flow of project information between the team and the client, through regular meetings and written communications.
  • Understanding and responding to technical implications and design decisions.
  • Managing sub-consultant deliverables and scope of work through all phases of the project.
  • Directing and organizing workflow and tasks to be performed by junior team members.
  • Reviewing work for quality, accuracy, omissions and legibility.

REQUIREMENTS TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE –

  • In-depth knowledge of place-making and community-focused planning, including the creation of urban planning and design frameworks, built form and public realm plans, policies, and guidelines.
  • Proficiency in industry standard 2D/3D software including Rhino, Vray, Enscape, Adobe Creative Suite, and Arc/QGIS.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Confidence in delivering public presentations and engaging with client, project consultant team and stakeholders.
  • Passion for mentoring and managing junior team members.
  • Exceptional work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment; self-motivated, and extremely organized.
  • Exceptional organization skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION –

  • A professional degree in urban planning, urban design, or related discipline.
  • 5 – 10 years of professional work experience showing significant work across urban planning and design projects.

COMPENSATION

  • $75,000 to $100,000 annually, commensurate with the qualifications of the candidate.
