We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse to join a dynamic healthcare team. In this role you will provide critical care to women and their families during childbirth ensuring safe and positive outcomes for both mother and baby.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough assessments of maternal and fetal wellbeing including monitoring vital signs fetal heart rates and uterine contractions.
Provide emotional support comfort measures and guidance on relaxation and breathing techniques to laboring mothers.
Assist obstetricians or midwives during labor and childbirth including administering medications monitoring epidurals and supporting vaginal and cesarean deliveries.
Deliver immediate newborn care such as assessing Apgar scores initiating skintoskin contact and supporting breastfeeding.
Recognize and respond promptly to obstetric emergencies implementing appropriate interventions.
Educate expectant mothers and families on childbirth pain management breastfeeding and postpartum recovery.
Advocate for patients and their families ensuring their needs and preferences are respected.
Maintain accurate medical records documenting assessments interventions and patient responses.
Collaborate with healthcare team members including obstetricians anesthesiologists and pediatricians to ensure comprehensive care.
Associate degree in Nursing (required); BSN or enrollment in a BSN program (preferred).
Current Registered Nurse License in Illinois (required).
Certifications: BLS and ACLS (required); Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) (preferred).
23 years of experience in Labor & Delivery nursing (required).
Schedule:
3 days a week of 12hour shifts of your choice (7 AM 7:30 PM; 11 AM 11 PM; or 7 PM 7:30 AM).
Also working every other weekend.
Inperson work in the Labor & Delivery Unit.
