The La Crosse Area Family YMCA is seeking an engaging STEM Learning Coach to join our team. This individual will work closely with our Digital Experience Coordinator to facilitate innovative STEM learning experiences for children, including coding, robotics, graphic design, and more. The ideal candidate loves working with kids, is enthusiastic about STEM education, and Esports, and enjoys creating a fun, interactive learning environment. This position is part-time at the Dahl Branch (La Crosse).
Shift Hours : Evening and weekend hours are required, up to 10 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
Supervise children during open hours, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for exploration and creativity.
Assist the Digital Experience Coordinator in leading classes and workshops in STEM-related subjects such as coding, robotics, and graphic design as needed.
Support Esports team activities, including practice sessions, leagues, and tournament preparation, and create an energetic and motivating atmosphere.
Fill in for the Digital Experience Coordinator during their absence, including lesson facilitation and program management.
Foster a welcoming and engaging atmosphere to inspire curiosity and learning.
Encourage and support children in developing problem-solving, teamwork, and critical-thinking skills through hands-on activities.
Monitor and maintain equipment and materials, ensuring their proper use and upkeep.
Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other team members regarding program activities and individual progress.
Passion for STEM education, Esports, and working with children.
Background or experience in teaching or facilitating STEM-related subjects (e.g., coding, robotics, graphic design).
Ability to plan ahead, including organizing events, workshops, and programs.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with a team and adapt to varying program needs.
