Location: Nationwide Travel (90% travel required; based out of Salt Lake City, UT)

As a Substation Testing Technician, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the reliability of complex electrical systems, from relays to transformers. What You Will Deliver
- Grid Reliability: Perform testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of substations to keep power flowing safely and efficiently.
- Technical Excellence: Operate advanced test equipment (Doble, Manta, Vanguard, Omicron) to ensure precise performance verification.
- Protection & Control: Configure and test relays (SEL, Multilin, Basler) and utilize specialized software (DTA, Protection Suite, Enoserve/RTS, PTM, Accelerator) to maintain system integrity.
- System Performance: Execute acceptance, maintenance, and commissioning testing on breakers, transformers, instrument transformers, SCADA, and grounding systems.
- Operational Agility: Travel extensively across the U.S. (90%), adapting to varying project needs while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Client Trust: Build and maintain strong relationships with utility partners by delivering reliable results and detailed reporting.
- Workplace Safety: Uphold OSHA safety protocols, minimizing risk while working in high-voltage environments.
What You Bring
- High school diploma or GED required; advanced technical training a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in high-voltage relay or apparatus testing.
- Proficiency with test sets (Doble, Manta, Vanguard, Omicron).
- Strong understanding of protection/control schemes, schematics, and diagrams.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex electrical circuits.
- Strong organizational skills, with precise attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (including technical reporting).
- Willingness and flexibility to travel interstate on a weekly/bi-weekly basis (90% travel).
