About the Project:

Princeton University is constructing a new state-of-the-art engineering building. The institution will be designed and constructed to achieve the highest possible level of functionality, durability, and flexibility. Research and teaching will be made visible, and the design will support curricular and co-curricular activities with spaces that are warm, inviting, and inclusive. The building will be organized in a way that provides fluid, intuitive, and convenient pathways to multiple destinations.

About the Role:

The AKA Team is seeking a self-motivated, tech-savvy, innovative, and detail-oriented VDC Engineer to join our dynamic team. This individual will play a key role in enhancing our virtual design and construction capabilities—bridging the gap between design and field execution using cutting-edge technologies.

We’re looking for someone with a strong understanding of the built environment and a passion for driving process innovation through Building Information Modeling (BIM), 3D visualization, and construction technology.

Relocation is required if a candidate lives outside of the NJ area or driving distance from site. We are looking to hire someone in May 2025 and place them on the project no later than June 2025. This project runs through 2029.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop 3D models and simulations to improve site logistics, safety planning, sequencing, and schedule visualization.
  • Manage clash detection and coordination processes from project kickoff through closeout.
  • Support preconstruction efforts, including model validation, constructability reviews, and virtual mockups.
  • Research and test emerging construction technologies to enhance project execution and team performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project managers, superintendents, designers, and engineers.

Qualifications:

Required Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field

(Associate degree in a VDC/BIM technical discipline with 3-5 years of experience will also be considered.)

  • Strong working knowledge of BIM processes, VDC tools, and current construction technology trends.

Software Proficiency:

  • Autodesk Revit
  • AutoCAD
  • Navisworks
  • SketchUp
  • Rendering tools (e.g., Lumion, Enscape)
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Familiarity with visual programming, data analytics, and VR/AR platforms is a plus
