Accountant & Tax Preparer Location Newton, MA :
Job Summary We are seeking a knowledgeable accountant and tax preparer to join our team. In this role, you will work directly with individual and business clients in preparation of their annual tax filings, as well as prepare and handle other quarterly and annual filings, such as payroll tax returns. Duties will entail working with QuickBooks and Lacerte tax software programs. Responsibilities - Bookkeeping & recording transaction in QuickBooks and QuickBooks Online.
- Reconciling bank and credit card accounts.
- Making yearend workpapers to tie out balances to supporting documentation, such as bank, credit card, loans, and payroll figures.
- Help prepare and compile financial statements for business clients.
- Review general ledger account details to verify accuracy of transactions and make necessary adjustments.
- Make yearend and interim adjusting entries in QuickBooks and other accounting software programs (AppFolio, Buildium, etc.)
- Prepare business, personal, and fiduciary income tax returns. i.e., Forms 1065, 1120S, 1120, 1040, and 1041.
- Prepare and file quarterly and annual payroll returns for select business clients, including Forms 941, 940, State withholding returns, State unemployment, and Forms W2/W3.
- Submit payroll for business clients using various payroll processing platforms, such as ADP RUN, Paychex FLEX, OnPay, and Intuit.
Qualifications - Bachelor or master degree in taxation or accounting.
- CPA preferred but not required.
- Previous experience as an accountant, tax preparer, or similar position.
- Previous experience preparing business and personal income tax returns.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks, and basic accounting systems.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills.
