Job Description

The Before and After Care Program Staff is responsible for maintaining a safe, engaging, and fun environment for children in kindergarten through 5th grade. The position begins September 2, 2025. The position can be a great fit for college students.

Staff are responsible for coming up with creative and educational activities, preparing and serving snacks, maintaining a clean environment for the children, and corresponding and communicating with staff and parents while working with administrators to implement school policies, procedures, and foster a joyful, inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

  • Write program plans (support can be provided for those with less experience) to include games, crafts and nearby outings
  • Implement program plans
  • Maintain standards of student behavior and citizenship to achieve a functional, safe and respectful learning atmosphere.
  • Attend training program(s) for the staff
  • Effectively supervise, coach, and mentor children
  • Build rapport and communicate with parents according to school standards to share insight about students' participation in the program
  • Work with Registrar to maintain current student records
  • Maintain confidentiality of students and families.
  • Assist with the evaluation of the program

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Understand the principles, philosophy, and practices of recreation administration (e.g., program planning, leadership, risk management, budgeting, and public relations)
  • Experience in executing activities and special events
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to lead and individually work to accomplish goals
  • Ability to operate the technology used and use the available hardware and software 

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years old
  • Must have prior experience working with school aged children
  • Must have ability to effectively communicate with with all stakeholders
  • Washington State background check and fingerprint clearance and all other statements and disclosures in accordance with state law are required prior to employment
  • Upon hire or before, must earn certification in CPR and First Aid

Schedule

The hours are 7:00 am to 8:30 am and 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Monday - Friday. It may be possible to work only am or only pm hours. It may also be possible to add additional hours as staff during the school day.

Hourly Wage

$22-25
