We are seeking an experienced and organized Fleet Manage r to oversee and manage our fleet of trailer assets.

What you'll do:

This role is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, compliance, and utilization of all trailers within our fleet. The Fleet Manager will coordinate with maintenance teams, drivers, and logistics personnel to maximize asset performance while minimizing downtime and costs.

Fleet Operations & Asset Management:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the trailer fleet, ensuring all assets are available and operational.
  • Monitor trailer utilization, ensuring efficient deployment and tracking of assets.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize fleet efficiency, including maintenance scheduling and asset rotation.
  • Track trailer locations using GPS or telematics systems and coordinate movements accordingly.
  • Managing the fleet of trailers and vehicles (not just trailers)
  • Partner in the product specification in the field of fleet management.

Maintenance & Compliance:

  • Schedule and oversee regular preventive maintenance and inspections to ensure trailers meet safety and regulatory standards.
  • Work with maintenance vendors and in-house technicians to address repairs and minimize downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with all DOT, FMCSA, and other relevant regulations regarding trailer safety, maintenance, and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance history, inspections, and compliance reports.

Cost Control & Budgeting:

  • Manage the budget for trailer maintenance, repairs, and operations, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors for maintenance, leasing, and repairs.
  • Monitor fuel, toll, and operational expenses to identify efficiency improvements.

Vendor & Supplier Management:

  • Collaborate with leasing companies, repair shops, and suppliers to ensure service quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Evaluate vendor performance and seek improvements in service levels and pricing.

Safety & Risk Management:

  • Implement policies and procedures to promote safety in trailer operations.
  • Investigate accidents or breakdowns, implementing corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
  • Ensure proper documentation of accidents, insurance claims, and risk mitigation strategies.

Technology & Reporting:

  • Utilize fleet management software and telematics systems for tracking, reporting, and optimizing trailer operations.
  • Analyze fleet data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
  • Generate regular reports on fleet performance, utilization, maintenance, and costs for management review.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transportation Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fleet management, preferably with trailers or heavy equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA regulations.

Skills:

  • Experience with fleet management software, telematics, and GPS tracking systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage budgets, control costs, and negotiate vendor contracts.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills to work with drivers, maintenance teams, and stakeholders.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • (50%) of Travel
  • Miami HQ office-based with frequent travel to fleet yards, repair facilities, and vendor locations.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments and inspect trailer assets as needed.
  • Flexibility to be on call for emergencies or urgent maintenance issues.
