Job Title: Light Industrial - Technician 4
Job Description: Lab Technician Responsibilities:
1. Maintain equipment inventory.
Maintain and monitor segregation between general lab and type test critical
equipment.
Maintain and update equipment database site.
Maintain and update equipment check-out/check-in process/tool.
Oversee and monitor equipment borrow to other ABB groups and check
functionality prior to putting back into service.
2. Maintain equipment functionality.
Create, test, check and validation procedures/process.
Test and validate equipment monthly, quarterly to prevent issues that could
compromise project timeline or 3rd party certification.
Keep statistical data to predict potential failure or end of life.
Repair and calibration ownership
• Lab documentations.
Maintain, update, and create lab ISOI17025 documentations and participate in
annual UL and SGS audits.
Maintain, update, and create lab electrical and BOM documentations.
Maintain and update UL and IEC test procedures and report templates.
•Lab supplies
Maintain and update standardized lab stocked supplies.
Maintain and update critical type test stocked supplies.
• Lab Safety – first responder
Maintain and update lab safety procedures and policies and provide lab safety
training.
Implement and maintain lab safety.
Lab safety inspection/audit ownership
• Support test needs for R&D, PE, Sales, and Customer
Provide lab training to non-R&D users.
Provide test support as directed.
Conduct test as directed
Provide test outsource services.
Source new external test facilities to meet test needs.
Maintain database of contacts and services.
Create new vendor in SAP for PO creation to support lab and test needs.
Logistic
Work with project and test teams to ship materials to test site
Coordinate storage materials to offsite location
Project and lab materials storage ownership.
Test Technician Duties/Responsibilities:
Assist design engineers in development work evaluating components, prototype
assembly and product verification testing.
Maintain and use test specifications to test products and prototypes. Be able
to interpret results to verify that performance matches requirements. Check
reasonableness, prepare and present test reports and maintain records.
Perform safety and EMC certification tests to UL, CSA, and IEC standards and
create test reports for third-party certifying bodies. External travel to third
party test facilities is a requirement which include both local and
international locations.
Construct test setups and fixtures requiring mechanical construction and
electrical wiring from design engineer specifications.
